Greetings & Welcome!

Welcome to our new subscribers this month--we're glad to have you with us!

We have both been doing quite a bit of traveling lately, and it feels good to be home now for a while. Michelle recently attended Best Buy's WOLF (Women's Leadership Forum) Annual Conference in Boston, and in going through her notes, there is one thing she couldn't wait to share with readers! It's a compliation of incredible words by Kent M. Keith called "Do It Anyway"--be sure to check it out below.

This month we focus on  the topic of Communication. In our work, the struggles of relationships and the basics of communication come up frequently. It's easy to take communication for granted, and at the same time, it really is key to healthy relationships. So be sure to check out the feature article below, "Communicating Effectively" and see how you measure up in your interactions with those that are important to you.

Sincere thanks to our Client of the Month Cindy Storms for sharing her story, and to our Sponsor Taiha Wagner and Build Her Dream.

Thank you to our LifeShine community for your continued support of our work. We're grateful for your presence!

With warm appreciation,
Michelle & Bill Stimpson

Communicating Effectively
By Michelle Stimpson

"My boss just doesn't get me."
"If my spouse would only listen to me, everything would be better."
"I'd love to tell her how I really feel, but I'm afraid to."

Ever have any of those thoughts running through your head? One of the biggest keys to living a successful life is to communicate effectively. George Bernard Shaw describes a common misconception beautifully: "The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place." And this idea reminds us that we're not always as good at communication as we like to think we are.

There are two critical aspects to communicating effectively:

"I am overjoyed at the progress I have made."

Wow, how my life has transformed itself from the wonderful healing qualities of coaching! Over the last several years--yes, years--I had been winding myself down into one solid rut. One thing after another was happening to continue the ever-heavy weight of stress and overwhelm. My life was going from bad to worse. My relationship was failing, a real estate venture was stressful, and my outlook on life was limited to just 'making it through the day.' I was tapped royally and had almost completely lost my energy for dreaming of a bright future.

Being the energetically savvy person I am, I'm always interested in personal transformation and being the best person I can be. I was mortified that I had created such a debilitating situation for myself. I guess sometimes you have to go through the muck to appreciate the beauty. From the moment I met Michelle, I knew she had something magical to offer. Her positive energy was contagious and gave me hope that I could turn my life around. I committed to...

Do It Anyway
Kent M. Keith

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis it is between you and God;
It was never between you and them anyway.
